In fact all the BRIC countries achieved growth in 2011, of between 3.5 and 9.0 percent. South America (in particular Brazil, Chile, Argentina) accomplished around 9.0%.It would make far more economic sense, as I mentioned once before, for the USA to align itself with all the old Commonwealth countries, with Canada heading up the Commonwealth (per the suggestion of Ligneus), until such time as Europe were able to sort out the politics of the Euro. Why should the rest of the world be held to economic ransom, simply because Europe has problems. Let them come to the party if, and whenever they’re able to get their act together. A trading block of this magnitude, would also encourage more investment from China, and help to amplify growth. I think that after 2011, we’re all sick to death of hearing about Europe and it’s woes. Were the situation reversed, would they be motivated to stimulate the economies of the rest of the world, without some benefit to themselves? Not on your life! Their politics are so steeped in nationalism, that they aren’t even able to represent themselves as a unified economic unit at this stage.
